Fly Me to the Moon, And Let Me Play Among the Stars.

In queer as folk season 3 episode 3 when Debbie asked Brian: Why he doesn't vote in elections, he answered: because republicans hate us and tell it in our face and democrats hate us and keep it between themselves. Also in season one in response to same question he told Michael that straight people are two groups: people who hate us in our face and people who hate us behind our back. Although it's a little pessimistic, but I think it's rather true. Especially in Iran, our society is completely homophobe and I don't think we can correct their attitude sooner than next few centuries. So trying to change our society is almost impossible. We are and we will stay an unwelcomed and unacceptable minority. But I think our greatest problem is ourselves and getting rid of society’s standards. One of our greatest problems is our parents (specially mothers) and the dreams that they have for us. I think mothers like Debbie and even Jennifer that are proud of their gay sons or at least accept their reality are quite rare. Most of our mothers want us to be engineers and doctors and marry a wealthy and beautiful girl and produce a herd of grandchildren for them. I think that's brutal. I know many of gay engineers or doctors whose dreams are to be artists. The thing that makes this problem worse is that unconsciously we accept the values that defined by our parents. For many of us being a sissy or showing effeminate behaviour seems shameful. Many of us try to pretend they are TOP and masculine (Just see the ads in gay sites). It's true that our parents suffered very much to raise us and we are in their debt but expecting someone to live with someone else’s values is brutal. It's still a question for me that: is it worth to live NORMAL and be happy from society's point of view or we must fight and accept its consequences? I accept that someone must be very brave to challenge society's values and standards and select to live as an outcast. But the joy of forbidden fruit is priceless. Andre Gide said that gay boys don't have mother. He also said It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not. But it's so difficult. Someone said I'd rather be black than gay because when you're black you don't have to tell your mother. We love them so what can we do? For living as you are, Earth seems a little too small. Maybe that's why I love science fiction. What if we all can live somewhere far far away. What if we can live somewhere that we can be ourselves and not just a hollow doll which filled by social values.

Happy Family

..... Without no special reason writing this post remind me of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach.

PS: After rereading this post today, I thought that my posts during past week (after valentine) is somehow gloomy. So I changed picture of this post. As Emmet said: Go on, Kill yourself. But don't be a man about it, be a queen!

..... and Syberia 2 trailer is released. You can risk everything if you know that you found your dream. What happened if we are as brave as Kate Walker and can decide to pursue our dreams?
